Q: What is Glucosamine?

A: Glucosamine is an amino saccharide that occurs naturally in the body. Glucosamine is used by the body as a precursor for cartilage synthesis. Q: How do glucosamine and chondroitin work together?
A: Both glucosamine and chondroitin are precursors for cartilage matrix as well as the proteoglycans that are contained in the synovial fluid. When taken in combination, glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate can stimulate synthesis of both cartilage precursors and synovial fluid as well as to limit the degradation of existing cartilage and loss of joint integrity. *
